Principal

Hello Panther Family!

I am so excited and honored to begin my fifth year as the Principal here at Creekside Middle School. Every year I look forward to the first day of school.  My husband, who is a teacher, and I always take first day pictures.  And this year was no different!  I am very excited to see what this school year brings for all of us.  I am impressed by the time and dedication that teachers have put into restructuring their lessons, designing new activities, and creating new expectations for student success.  This is my 15th year in education, and I think it will be one of the most challenging and exciting years.  We are creating, inventing, modifying, and experiencing new ways to make education better for all students; and that’s what I am passionate about.

After earning my BA from Occidental College in Los Angeles, CA, I began teaching math at the middle school level.  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher, but stepping into my first classroom solidified it for me. I was hooked!  My passion for learning, combined with the excitement of helping others reach their full potential, mixed with my love for math, let me know I had chosen the right career.  After 4 years at the middle school, and earning my Masters in Educational Administration from Cal State Northridge, I decided to return to Northern California and started at Patterson High School.  That is when I fell in love with this small town, a great school and this district. After teaching math for 3 years, I moved into my first administrative role, as Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.  Then in the fall of 2016, I became the Principal at Creekside Middle School. Although I still miss the classroom, I am truly honored to be able to lead such an amazing group of educators and work with the finest students at CMS.

2016 was a special year for me as we welcomed our first born into our family, our son SJ!  And just two short years later, we welcomed our beautiful daughter into our family!  I love spending time with family...any family…all family, even my Panther family! We love being outdoors, especially anything to do with water (lakes, beaches, rivers, etc). And we love to travel; so we have had to try new adventures during this pandemic.

I know that this year will be full of adventures that we can work through together.  I look forward to seeing Panther spirit virtually!  I really look forward to meeting all of you throughout the year! Please reach out if you have any questions. And remember, it’s a great day to be a PANTHER!

Amy Spears
Associate Principal
Hello Fellow Panthers!

It is both a pleasure and honor to begin my second year at Creekside Middle School!  I am your Associate Principal and I oversee the areas of Curriculum and Instruction.  One of my greatest joys is working with students and guiding them to make choices that positively impact their lives and future. This is my 14th year as an administrator and each year has been unique and interesting.  I am passionate about learning and supporting others to reach their goals.

I have two daughters.  The eldest lives in California with her husband and their daughter.  The  youngest lives in Michigan with her husband, two daughters, and a son. I moved to California from Michigan six years ago and I can honestly say that I prefer California sunny winters to Michigan’s frigid temperatures and snow!  My favorite activities are boating, sailing, kayaking, spending time with my friends and family, and enjoying time with my four incredible grandchildren!

I earned my Bachelor of Science, majoring in English Education and minoring in Business Education from Ferris State University.  I continued my studies at Central Michigan University where I earned my Master of Arts in Administration and School Principalship.  I furthered my education at Central Michigan University, completing my Specialist in Education, focusing on school administration. I believe that continuing education is important, but education comes in many forms.  It is my priority to ensure that all students are best prepared for their future by being actively invested in their educational and career journey.

I am confident that we will work through these challenging times and come out stronger in the end because we are PANTHERS!  We are united!  We are here for one another! Please reach out to me if you have any questions.

Yours in True Panther Spirit,

Ms. Amy Spears

Hello Panthers!

It is a pleasure to begin my fifth year at Creekside Middle School!  I am your Assistant Principal and I oversee the area of Student Services.  This year is looking to be a different year than others I have encountered, but I am excited for the challenge.

I have six children, three boys and three girls.  The eldest daughter lives in Texas with her husband. The  youngest is in first grade. I moved to California from Idaho when I was in junior high. I have lived in Stanislaus county for over 30 years. I owned a manufacturing company for 12 years before I began a career in education. I taught English for 10 years before becoming an assistant principal. It has proven to be a rewarding decision.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts, majoring in both English and Spanish from California State University Stanislaus.  I continued my studies at California State University Stanislaus where I earned my Master of Arts in School Administration.

I am looking forward to this new year and I am very excited to assist you in your educational endeavors. I hope to be a resource for you as you continue your education here at Creekside. I know that as we work together we will be able to get through the challenges that we will face. Let’s do it together!!

Respectfully,

Mr. Stephen Mauchley

Sara Drabert
Counselor

Greetings Panthers!

For those of you who don’t know me, I am the counselor for students with the last names that begin with the letters A - L. This is my 9th year as a school counselor and my third year here at Creekside Middle School. This is a special year for me because this will be the first promoting class that I have been with for all three of their years at Creekside. My favorite part about my job is connecting with students and helping them reach their goals.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my husband, two sons, and two crazy dogs. We love to travel as a family and have recently found an interest in camping. I also really enjoy reading, painting, and going on bike rides in my spare time. I grew up in Modesto and attended Modesto Junior College for 2 years before transferring to CSU Stanislaus. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a concentration in Human Services. I went on and received my Master’s degree and PPS Credential (counseling credential) at Chapman University, which is now known as Brandman.

I look forward to connecting with new and returning students, whether it is through Webex or eventually in person when school is able to re-open. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about your schedule, if you are struggling in one of your classes, or if you just need a trusted adult to talk to. I am here to help! You can email me at [email protected].

I hope you all have a great 2020-21 school year!

Mrs. Sarah Drabert

Jason Thompson
Counselor

Hi Panthers,

I am excited to start my 14th year here at Creekside Middle School and my 21st year as a counselor in the Patterson Unified School District (I spent my first 7 years as a counselor at the high school). This year will probably be the most unique and challenging in my career but I am ready to take those challenges head on. I know that together we can overcome anything that the year 2020 or 2021 throw at us.

I grew up in Mariposa on 10 acres out in the country. We didn’t have running water or electricity for most of my elementary school years so you can imagine it was a very different type of upbringing than most of the other staff members. Even though it probably sounds like it was no fun to not have electricity and water, I actually had a great childhood! I learned to really appreciate things that most of my friends took for granted. In middle school I moved to Hawaii for 3 years before moving back to Mariposa to graduate with all my friends.

I attended a few junior colleges before settling in at Modesto Junior College (for one year I actually took classes to become an airline pilot). After graduating with an Associates Degree I transferred to CSU Stanislaus in Turlock. I majored in Psychology and earned my Bachelors before enrolling in the School Counseling program at CSUS where I earned my Masters degree.

I can’t wait to meet all of you that are joining us for the 1st time this year and to reconnect with all of you Panthers that moved on to the next grade level. I am the counselor for all of you that have last names starting with M - Z. Of course, in the beginning we will be meeting via Webex but I can’t wait to see you all in person. Have a wonderful school year and…

Goooo Panthers...Rooooaar!

Mr. Jason Thompson

Ashley Matyn
EL Coordinator

Hello!

I am looking forward to the start of the 2020-2021 school year, even with all of its challenges.  This will be my second year as EL Coordinator.  My primary focus in this role is providing English learners, parents, and teachers with support and strategies to help all students find success.

I was born and raised in Carlsbad, California, which is a small beach town in San Diego county. My parents, brother, sister-in-law, and nephew still live there, so I enjoy going home to visit them.  My parents have a dog, Lucky, and he's my absolute favorite.

I attended Cal Poly Pomona and earned my BA in English Education and MA in Teaching English to Students of Other Languages (TESOL).  After, I completed my single subject teaching credential in English at Cal State San Marcos. I am currently working on my thesis for my MA in Education Administration at Stan State.

Prior to becoming the EL Coordinator at Creekside, I taught English, yearbook, and ELD at Patterson High School for six years.  My favorite part of my job is watching students master new skills while they figure out what they're passionate about. I'm passionate about reading, needlepointing, dogs, and spending time with my friends and family.

I am excited for all the opportunities for growth this year and can't wait to get started!

Loyally,

Miss Ashley Matyn
